Kumar Bathala
Kumar's passion for Ayurveda and Yoga stems from his deep interest in holistic health and wellness—encompassing both body and mind. His background uniquely blends science, technology, Sanskrit, Yoga, and Ayurveda. Born in South India and raised across various regions of India before moving to the US, Kumar has always felt drawn to the subtle arts of healing and transformation since childhood.
Kumar holds Master's degrees in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering and works as a hardware engineer in Austin, TX. He has been practicing Yoga since 2008 and discovered his calling through the Art of Living Foundation (AOLF) in 2013. As a volunteer with AOLF, he teaches Yoga, breathwork, meditation, and various tools for inner well-being. Kumar also trains and mentors other volunteers within the organization. His teaching experience spans diverse groups, including children, university students, corporate employees, and prisoners. Kumar is an E-RYT 200, RYT-500 with the Yoga Alliance and mentors Yoga Teacher Training students at the Sri Sri School of Yoga.
Kumar's journey in holistic health took a new turn in 2020 when he formally began studying Ayurveda through Kerala Ayurveda Academy. He is now an Ayurvedic Practitioner and an Ayurvedic Doctor candidate. With his love for Sanskrit, Kumar enjoys chanting and teaching the songs of Ayurveda (the Samhitas or Ayurvedic texts). He is also passionate about cooking and enjoys experimenting with delicious, health-conscious recipes. Drawing on his passion and background in teaching and mentoring students of various ages and backgrounds, Kumar excels at simplifying Ayurvedic concepts and making them relevant to his students.
